The Bear's Cave

Tempting her with words:
Come inside, says the bear
There is nothing to fear
I have a warm place for you and me in here

I will keep you warm
when the snow starts to fall
I will hold you tight
from extreme danger above all

I will guard you
and keep you safe
you will be mine
you won't want to escape

When the time comes
and you have to leave
you will recall my protection,
that I guarantee

I have honey for you to eat
I have toys for you to play
Trust me,
I will not bore you night or day.

The girl thought for a moment,
her mind in a twist
What will the towns people say
what if she's to be missed

They sure will critisize
they sure will tease
She won't be accepted
her life won't be at ease

But on this cold, snowy day
the girl acts for herself
She loves this furry creature
it'll protect her from all else

So she lept in the bears cave
not doubting a bit
that he could be a liar,
a grouch, and a cheat

But he did keep his promises
he cared for her dear
They hibernated together
until the towns folks appeared

They surrounded the cave
with torches so bright
They yelled and they cursed
from the day to the night

The bear woke in anger
he was ready for attack
But the girl grabbed his paw
told him to keep back

The town folks felt that weakness
and took advantage of his rear
The shot of a rifle wounded
and then killed the bear

The girl stirred a moment
she woke up in fear
She looked around her and noticed
that the bear was still here

A dream that awoke her
she could not risk this attack
For the love of the bear
the girl left and to the village she went back

In the spring the bear woke
the snow storm nights were through
He felt around for the girl
but she was not in the room

He yelled in devestation
she left him, he feared
The townsfolk had found her
she was definately not near

She chose to go back
the bear knew at once
But did she make it to the town
he did not take that chance

He left his cave
in search for her tracks
He found nothing for a time
Until her scarf he saw in a tree's bark

He followed her scent
found her by a lake, blue
Her body was motionless
he didn't know what to do

In desperation
he gave a big growl
He stood on his feet
and..

*BAM*

The rifle had shot
the town folks were near
They saw the big creature
he was to attack the poor girl, they feared

As the bear fell to the ground
his last breathe beside her he took
He noticed lastly her smile
and understood her awkward look

In a letter she wrote
to the folks of the town
She was lost in the storm
but the bear showed her love

They approached the two bodies
together as they lay
Both were motionless and cold
but in peace by the bay

They carried both the girl and the beast
to the place they were true
The bear's cave;
a place love and happiness was first felt by the two

The folks left them there
realizing their great mistake
How stupid they were, they realized
how their instincts were fake

The bear's cave
a metaphor of the truth
A legend,
an escape from the world, cruel

The hidden lair for lovers
remains now for those
That feel and hear the whispers
of the story that was long ago

--> This piece inspired by the whispers present in my love
