Geocache Me!

"We use billion dollar satellites to locate plastic containers on earth. What do you do?"

One thing my bf has always loved was the idea of geocaching! It's a modern day scavenger hunt with the use of a GPS =) The basic idea is- you search for a cache near you online, enter coordinates to GPS, find the location, search high and low to find a container, and upon success take something/ leave something behind for the owner =) Your success and all the visitors to your cache are tracked online.. and you can comment on the caches left behind by others.

So we embarked on our first journey today to High Park- where we successfully found a hidden box containing all sorts of goodies (what they were I will not mention, in case there are any geocachers around lol).

There was so much drama looking for it.. the most common phrases said were ..'are we walking in circles?', 'NO. Let me see it now', 'you're holding it wrong'.. and the most popular 'Look! Over there.. ahhh that's not it'. Haha. It was fun scavenging in the snow too!

Here are some pictures of our first find:

Put Ur Hands Up for T.O...

Our Lovely City! (8) dunananana chhh lol
(I know you know what I'm talkin about :P)

I was pretty much indoors all day today. The lectures, the labs, the tutorials.. *sigh.. On top of that, it gets a little monotone taking the same routes.. following the same schedules.

So I got a little inspired by my friend today who told me he wanted to discover the P.A.T.H. a little more. He obviously lives in T.O but never got a chance to really explore our "underground city''. So I thought to myself.. "Hey! why don't I go explore T.O too". So I did.. in my own nerdy kinda way lol. Here's what's been up and about the block:

The Protest at Dundas Square- A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words:
"Canada- Help Us":

My second hot topic worth mention is this little observation I took about the TTC subway line. There was heavy duty traffic at the Yonge/Bloor station at the exit from the North Subway platform onto the Bloor Danforth (East/West) line. Although there are two exits onto the Bloor line from the North level.. they are just tooo close together! Major turmoil was caused cuz one of the escalators (going down) was being repaired. Funny, because the other escalator was fine BUT going in the opposite direction. It took 4 and a half minutes to clear that exit.. which is considerably long b/c the next train with even more impatient commuters was approaching.

In comparison, I checked out St. George station (cuz that just happened to be where I was getting off lol) and was surprised about the easy flow of traffic (less than 1 minute to clear traffic WTF). The following are comparisons of what happens right after the trains leave:
Yonge/Bloor:

St. George:

While on the bus there was heavy traffic from Christie to Lansdowne *sigh.. cuz at Lansdowne the street didn't have separate right and left turning lanes. So ppl were turning left and right simultaneously... thus, holding up traffic behind them who wanted to go straight. So aneways, I come to my third hot topic, b/c while in traffic the bus just happened to stop infront of the Christie/Dupont Loblaws.. which has been infested with rats/mice recently. They had to clear the whole store.. yikes! they had mice runnin around and breeding in the fast food area!

Lovely- barely recognizable:
My fourth hot topic: GREEEENN is GOODD! not only is this my favourite colour (lol) but the idea of conservation of light/energy/recycling is growing on the public (and government) more and more. Yipee!
New ads by Mr. Suzuki:
The Best for Last: Oh man.. plz I need a picture with this man (who wants to join me?). He has become the highlight of my career at Ryerson:

I think he was feeling a little shy for the camera :$ I can't believe I got him on here. lol.

Listen because..

You can walk farther than one would want to run.
You can have everything, everything you want.
Every thought you can change into a meaningful word.

Listen. Listen because...

It's amusing breathing through a pink straw.
It's great talking with you,
talking without recollection of bad memories.
Listen.
Trust yourself one more time.

--> Wow, I am amazed. I literally just found this on a random piece of paper under my desk ..right now lol! I must've written it a while back.

It's the Budget's Fault!

If you woke up to this, this morning:

and if your car just happened to look like this, this morning:

Then, well.. you must be Canadian AND you must be pretty pissed.
Before January 27th heavy snow meant fast measures to clean the city up. Before January 27th 5 cm's of snow and you'd have 3 huge yellow machines- yes, with the little blue lights flashing- clearing the streets. But.. as today is the 28th of January, things have drastically changed. Only one day after the federal budget change and BAM! an overnight fright train to disaster! lol.

Yea.. you're right, I'm taking this out of proportion..haha fun though isn't it? Although, I did have difficulty trailing to school today and I am surprised of the budget this year.. I doubt it had anything to do with this heavy snowfall (*sigh its so easy to blame the government).

I think more funding should have been directed towards post secondary education and going green! Sure 1billion$ for green research is larger than last year.. but Mister, we're in the recession and in some difficult red-blue times> 1 billion is gunna go fast!

I don't know, I hear Jack Layton critisizing the budget, I hear the QB critisizing it.. I wonder what Ignatieff has to say. He can make or break this government with his decision! and just to add, I think Layton is a bit of an ass to out Ignatieff like that in public. He literally told him to vote against the Conservative proposition cuz he's a Liberal.. is that what Liberals do? I'm very disappointed in politics! Just lean towards the truth people.. not colourful slogans and power! (If only it were that simple, eh?)
** UPDATE: thank goodness Ignatieff liked the budget. There is now peace in the land of Parliamentaries lol! No Coalition! woohoo

Anewho, here's someone who doesn't give 2 shits about politics.. and who had a bit of trouble finding the fire hydrant today (lol).

Love in the Time of Cholera

I got this book for Christmas and read it right away!
I'm a sucker for romance novels lol.

Anewho.. I really enjoyed this novel because it's plot is as simple as everyday life. It's simplicity is what makes it so powerful. The story is about an adventurous young man who falls in love with a girl who is from a family that depends on her growing into a successful, rich, lady. So in short, her father doesn't aprove of the young man's love letters> and he does not aprove of him courting his daughter. So the father of the girl takes her away for several years for her to realize that she deserves much better than that small town boy. Surely, the girl forgets about Florentino.. marries a doctor and has a happy life (I should mention the 2 kids as well). Now, because Florentino is a romantic.. he vows that he will wait for the girl even if it takes his whole life, for he knows that they will be together. In the meantime he has many (as much as 600) love affairs with women of all colours, shapes, and sizes lol. Almost 60 years later, the doctor of whom the young girl married, died. Florentino at once went to her and confessed his love. However, it took her another two years and 20 letters later to admit she always had feelings for Florentino. The novel ends with the elderly couple, happy, and at last enjoying a cruise in South America.

The movie is perfect. Captures all the important pieces of the novel.

1 Smile

Want to remember
Want to forget

So simple and sweet
Makes it difficult to regret

No change is needed
Just let me be

Why alter the universe
When everything in it is happy?

Why not just smile
But mean it when you do

No words r needed
For the good the world you do

My Fluffy Monster

Here r some random picks of what Amor has been up to:
I just had to buy this sweater for him.. the snow gets tangled in his little curls lol. Plus, doesn't he look preppy? haha (it comes with a scarf too.. but that's just tooo much).

Amor loves yogourt! In fact, he pretty much loves eating anything to everything (except chocolate). If it falls on the floor, it's his! *sigh

Another Buy...

So I went out and bought something else later this week..
but this time it wasn't for lil ol' me.. but for my mother!
She's been very busy as of late.. with work.. grocery shopping.. walking the lil rascal (Amor-my pup).. oh and she decided to take a course @ Humber.
So I decided to buy her a dress.
My mother, similarly to myself, loves goin out (with daddy) and dancin' her tale off! In December they've been to 3 banquet-like parties with their frnds.. and for January and February they're planning on going to 1) charity event (this weekend), 2) Valentines dance, 3) Masquerade Ball, 4) a "Hunter's" Ball. LOL.
Of course these are all elegant events.. but btwn her and her gf's its fashion supreme! so when I saw this dress at Jacob (AND reduced from 150$ to 60$..) I thought it was perfect (very fun, flirty, yet elegant) So I tried on a size bigger.. and immediately got it for her!
Cute, huh? I love the black stone detail. It lines the back of the dress as well.. and it has the same deep cut on the back =) HOT. Overall.. it is very comfortable and I love that it sways when you move> perfect for jammin out on the dance floor.

So the verdict: I got home.. surprised her by laying it out on the couch before she came home that day. She didn't know what to think when she saw it lol.. she was worried it was too short. But she tried it on.. she loved it.. and it's a keeper! It goes perfectly with her silver heels, silver purse, and sheer violet shall! Success!

Welcome President Obama!

How I welcomed Barack Obama into President-hood =)

Dundas Square was packed during the time of his Inauguration speech! So I just had to capture this moment in history and share!

G.L. Mr. President and enjoy your first trip as Pres to Ottawa!

Btw, loved what him n his wife were wearing at the Parade and the Inauguration Ball! They're not afraid of risk and colour! <33

Confessions of a ... part 2

So after I bashed the book "Confessions of a Shopaholic".. I came to the conclusion (after a heavy week of shopping) that I AM A SHOPAHOLIC in denial!

Ok ok. I'm not into the high priced shit and I don't necessarily follow all the trends.. but damn when I see a good deal or if there's somewhere hot to go and I have nothing to wear.. I JUST GO ALL OUT and SHOP!
I think I fall into the category of a "Recession Chick".. or being "recession chic" (http://www.chicintuition.com/).. proven by the following thought process :

So after being told on a night out (by someone who shall remain anonymous) that he/she didn't find my hoodie attractive, it got my wheels turning.. "I don't have any sweaters or good clothes for the colder months!". Well, maybe I do have 'some' nice things.. but pffttt they're worn out n flat from the previous winters (haha). Besides, me "not having" anything to wear was a perfect reason to get out to the mall n just float lookin at shit ;).

If I just happened to stummble upon smtn I liked.. it wouldn't hurt to try it on... 'n then possibly buy it.. and on my debit card of course. I like knowing that my purchases are mine from the moment I check it out. I hate having to wait a whole month to own smtn that I've already worn.. 'n pay for it on my visa.. cuz the amounts just pile higher 'n higher. That whole moment of seeing your bank account healthy and then depleted by the visa bill is just so depressing for me. I would literally grouch and bitch all day cuz the wait for another pay cheque is soo long.. Behold the miserable 2 weeks. Ugh...

So anewho, I went to a few stores and couldn't find anything that I liked and within my budget. I saw a couple of hoodies I liked for 60$ each. But I thought to myself.."my hoodie days are over, I want smtn' for the long run.. pfftt and cheaper!". So when I saw that Jacob was having a sale I barged in and was in heavveen! They had soo many rad sweaters and turtle necks and ponchos with little Nunavut designs.. and the best part was that they were reduced from 60$ to 20$ or 30$. SCORE!

So long story short.. I just happened to jump onto a nice sale.. saw smtn I liked.. tried it on.. and just happened to have my debit card with me. I eft the store with 4 sweaters .. and I got a chic re-usable bag for only a dollar (which originally cost 6$) HA!

Then I spotted smtn that I was after for the longest time! I was after a white sheer shirt with ruffles on the front which I saw on Gossip Girl (Blair wore it once> season two). I saw a very similar shirt in Mendocino for 70$ (it was on sale for 70.. *sigh). But I just had to have it cuz it was so cute! But no. I didn't get it for 70$.. that's so not me. In Forever 21 I stummbled upon a black shirt with slightly smaller ruffles.. for 30$. But it just didn't flow for me.. and it had a "butt ballerina piece" attached to it (an extended piece that you have to button at your crotch lol). Creative.. but too much work. So I went to UB and in a pale pink I found what it was I was looking for. Best part was that it was for 25$. YES!

A little more work goes a looonnggg way!

My fluffy shirt alongside one of my sweater purchases (the sweater I actually purchased at Tristan & America for 30$ reduced from 60$ lol).

Next on my shopping list: double layered necklace with a peace sign and tree (which I found at Urban Outfitters).. and maybe a bag (one with fringes which I saw at Forever 21)!
